What tools does Habbo use to ensure my child’s safety?

To help our users enjoy their time in the Hotel and stay as safe as possible, we have created a number of tools to ensure control over each and every situation.

We recommend that you read the following information together with your child to make sure they understand what they can do to be in control of their Habbo experience.

-Ignore button

If another user is bothering your child, or they simply do not want to listen to what somebody says, they can silence this person by using the Ignore button. To do this, they click on the avatar of the person they want to silence. The Ignore button will appear and once they click on it, the speech from the user in question automatically becomes invisible.

-Room moderation tools

Your child is in control of their own rooms. They get to decide what happens in their rooms and who can visit them. This allows them to play an active part in the general moderation of Habbo and to contribute to a safer, enjoyable and responsible community. Your child has the following tools at their disposal:

*Kick

This tool removes a user from a room. The user may return to the room, if it is not full or locked.

*Ban

This tool lets your child ban a Habbo from their room.

*Remove Ban

This tool serves to remove a ban previously imposed. If your child made a mistake when banning someone they can rectify it with this button.

Your child can also let their friends help them moderate their rooms when they are not around. If they wish, they give selected Habbos rights to moderate their rooms. For more information about room moderation tools, and how to give room moderation rights to other Habbos, please click here.

-Control Access to rooms

There are options to help our users control access to their rooms:

Anyone – Any user may enter the room

Friends – Room owner’s friends can enter the room.

Anyone with password – The room is locked with a password. Only users who have the password can enter.

Owner (invisible) - only the room owner can enter; the room is not visible to others in the Navigator. Note that the room may still be found (but not entered) by other means.

Users can make changes to room access settings by clicking Room Info icon to the bottom of the screen. This opens the control panel.

- Forum moderation

Group owners can set rights separately for forum visibility, being able to create threads and being able to post in the group forum.

Group owners can also moderate individual posts and threads. They can also let group admins moderate in the same way.

-Profile privacy settings

Habbos are and remain anonymous and their personal information is not shown anywhere in the hotel. Nevertheless we have put at their disposal some profile settings to give them even more control over their privacy. These settings can be accessed from the Privacy tab in Account settings. The privacy settings options are as follows:

Profile page visibility  - you can choose whether other users will see your profile information or not.

Online statusyou can choose whether you want other Habbos to see if you are online or not.

Follow me Settings – Only their friends are able to follow them from one room to the next. Nevertheless if they would like a quiet moment to yourself you can turn this feature off. This means no one will be able to follow you in any situation.

Allow friend requests - if you’re bothered about unwanted friend requests, you can block them with this option.

Safety lock

The safety lock is an optional feature that is only available on accounts that use an email and password to log in. When enabled, the account in question will be ‘locked’ if certain criteria of suspicious use are met. You will then be emailed a single use code that you can use to unlock your account. You can activate the safety lock in Identification settings.
